next update will have Time format in SP following user’s phone setup (i.e. either 24 or AM/PM)
"temporal profile activation"!?! Hmmm... not sure about that, but from a programming point of view 24 hour clocks are easier to code and, in my opinion, less error prone - if your finger is obscuring the AM/PM toggle, 11:xx could be either AM or PM. I've made that error myself a few times on my Desire in a number of app's which use the 12 hour format.
I also agree with the use of metric measures which we also use down here in Oz.
Since we're on the subject of time notation, I hate people who insist on putting a zero in front of the hour when it is before ten o'clock in the morning and they are using twelve hour format e.g. 08:35 AM or worse still 08:35 PM! The zero should ONLY be in front of single digit hours in 24 hour format - that is the international standard.
It is also part of ISO 8601 that the date separator should be the hyphen "-" and the time separator should be the colon ":".
I have a similar issue which I solve using a Scheduled hourly switch to a non-Aeroplane mode for a couple of minutes.
Wouldn't this be better implemented as a separate application, focussed on e-mail monitoring, which can call the Profile Switcher with parameters for the profile switcher to act on if necessary. E-mail monitoring and actioning should not be bloating up the Profile Settings switcher.
I've come from the (hack-ptuee) WM camp and seen a number of similar programs there which started as simple settings switchers and ended up bigger than Ben-Hur because of all the extra features.
Please remember that it is supposed to be a Profile Switcher - that's why I bought it, not to have it turned into a bloated monster which I have to upgrade to, just to get bug fixes for the Profile Switching functionality. KISS!
We are planning to add universal approach to control this option for all rooted phones.
On my Desire, I have the above setting too but also have the ability to turn Mobile Network on/off via a long press on the Power button. I think this option is essential as a power/cost saving feature. Used in combination with a Schedule profile switch you could have the phone enable mobile internet one an hour and perform a quick sync, say, at work.
